Hey there, folks in Pune! Have you heard about the ongoing demand to resume express train stops at Bhigwan railway station? Yes, you read it right! Despite the closure of stops during the COVID-19 pandemic, commuters from villages in the eastern part of Daund taluka are still waiting for these stops to be started again.
Bhigwan railway station, located in Indapur taluka, serves as a convenient stop for commuters from Daund, Baramati, Karjat, Karmala, and Indapur talukas. Villagers from Rajegaon, Khanwate, Watluj, Naigaon, Khadki, and Swami-Chincholi in the eastern part of Daund taluka rely on Bhigwan station for their daily commute.
The closure of express train stops at Bhigwan since the pandemic has caused inconvenience to many passengers. Currently, only MEMU and DEMU trains stop at this station, leaving express train passengers in a lurch. The demand is loud and clear – resume the stops of the express trains at Bhigwan station.
Before the pandemic, several express trains used to stop at Bhigwan station at different times of the day. However, currently, only two trains make a stop at the station, causing frustration among passengers. The demand is to resume stops for trains like Hyderabad Express, Chennai Express, Siddheshwar Superfast, Bijapur Superfast, and Sainagar Shirdi, among others.
In February, villagers staged a rail stop protest to highlight their demand, but despite that, the stops have not been restored. With around 150 passengers traveling on these trains daily, the lack of stoppage is affecting many, especially children from poor families who are unable to access education.
Passengers have expressed their frustration over the lack of action from senior public representatives. They are now suggesting running seven DEMU trains from Bhigwan to Pune if technical difficulties are hindering the resumption of express train stops.
So, dear passengers, let’s hope that your voices are heard, and the express train stops at Bhigwan railway station are resumed soon to bring back convenience and accessibility for all. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing issue!
