1. Phursungi, a small town in Pune, became the unexpected setting for the arrest of a fugitive wanted for the murder of a police officer in Karnataka over a decade ago. The accused, identified as Amrish Kashinath Koli, had managed to evade capture since his dramatic escape from a government hospital in Vijayapura back in 2014.
  2. Koli, originally hailing from Kalaburagi, Karnataka, had been living in Phursungi under various false identities to avoid detection. Despite being sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a police officer in 2009, he managed to slip through the cracks and disappear into obscurity.
  3. Over the years, Koli had managed to start a new life for himself, getting married twice and living in Solapur and Pune under aliases like Rahul Kamble and Raju Kale. To further mask his true identity, he had obtained fake Aadhaar and PAN cards to deceive authorities.
  4. The breakthrough in the case came when diligent Phursungi Police Constables Sunil Kamble and Vaibhav Bhosale received a tip about Koli’s whereabouts. Working in tandem with the Karnataka Police, they were able to track down the elusive fugitive and bring him to justice.
  5. The successful operation to apprehend Koli was a collaborative effort involving law enforcement officials from both Pune and Kalaburagi. Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde and Assistant Commissioner of Police Anuradha Udamale, the team worked tirelessly to ensure the fugitive was captured.
  6. With Koli now in custody and handed over to the Karnataka Police for further investigation, justice may finally be served for the slain police officer and his family. The arrest serves as a reminder that no matter how long a fugitive may evade capture, law enforcement officials will stop at nothing to ensure they are brought to justice.
