Hey there, Pune peeps! We’ve got some not-so-great news for you today. The water purification project that was supposed to bring clean water to GBS-affected villages in Pune is in limbo due to a lack of funding. The PMC had big plans – two 100 MLD water treatment plants, new pipelines, storage tanks, the whole shebang – but it seems like the Maharashtra State Government is dragging their feet on shelling out the cash.
The project, championed by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, was meant to be a game-changer for villages like Dhayari, Kirkatwadi, and Nandoshi. But with no funds in sight, it looks like these areas will continue to struggle with contaminated water and GBS outbreaks.
The PMC had a detailed plan – two phases, 11 acres of land, five pumping houses, 43 tanks – but without the money to back it up, it’s all up in the air. And let’s not forget about the folks in the newly merged areas who are already struggling with water supply issues. They’re still stuck relying on well water and tankers, with no relief in sight.
So, Pune, it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for clean water to flow in our villages. Let’s hope the government steps up soon and gives this project the green light it needs. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
