The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Standing Committee recently made a decision to transfer all government properties, except those owned by the PMC, to the newly formed Fursungi-Uruli Devachi Municipal Council. These two villages were merged with the PMC back in 2017, and since then, the PMC has been providing basic civic amenities to the residents.

The State Government issued an order to form a separate municipal council for Fursungi and Uruli Devachi ahead of the upcoming election on September 11, 2024. A committee headed by the Divisional Commissioner has been tasked with overseeing the development plans for the villages, and all basic amenities will be handed over to the new municipal council in the next six months.

The municipal council administration has been gathering information about government properties in the villages, including buildings, markets, shops, and other areas covered by civic amenities. A total of 116 properties belonging to the former gram panchayats and 13 reserved plots have been identified for transfer to the municipal council.

The Standing Committee has approved the transfer of properties acquired after the villages were merged with the PMC in the first phase. Land designated for service sector and roads will be transferred in the second phase, while properties with citizens facilitation centres will be handed over in the third phase. This move is aimed at streamlining the administration of the villages and ensuring efficient delivery of civic services to the residents.
