Ganesh Mandarthi, a talented Yakshagana artist from Karnataka, and Rituparna Bose, a renowned theatre and television artist from West Bengal, are all set to receive the prestigious Tanvir Natyadharmi Puraskar 2024. This award, instituted by the Rupvedh Pratishthan and Maharashtra Cultural Center, aims to recognize the contribution of young talents in the field of theatre.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 16th at the Shreeram Lagoo Rang-Avakash in Pune. K.V. Akshara, the Head of Neelakanteshwara Natya Seva Sangha from Karnataka, will be the Chief Guest for the event and will deliver a keynote address on the topic of ‘Expanding the Notions of Activism in Theatre’.
The Tanvir Natyadharmi Puraskar includes a cash prize of Rs.50,000/- and a Silver Plaque, and was established in 2004 in memory of Tanvir, the son of Deepa and Shreeram Lagoo. Ganesh Mandarthi, known for his work in Yakshagana and Kannada theatre, has dedicated 17 years to the art form, while Rituparna Bose has made significant contributions to theatre and television.
Rituparna, who co-founded the theatre group ‘Amta Parichay’, has performed in over 25 plays and has received accolades for her solo performances. K.V. Akshara, on the other hand, is a prominent figure in contemporary Kannada theatre and currently heads Ninasam, a renowned theatre group and cultural complex in Heggodu, Karnataka.
