Traders are reporting a significant decrease in garlic supply from other states, leading to a sharp increase in prices. At the wholesale market, you can expect to pay anywhere between ₹2,000 and ₹3,700 for 10 kg of garlic, depending on the grade. And if you’re hitting up the retail market, be prepared to shell out ₹300 to ₹400 per kg for this aromatic bulb.
On Sunday, Market Yard saw a whopping 90 to 100 truckloads of fruits and veggies rolling in from different parts of Maharashtra and beyond. We’re talking about loads of green chilies, cabbage, lima beans, common beans, drumsticks, carrots, groundnuts, and of course, garlic, making their way to the market. From Pune Division, we’ve got ginger, okra, guar, tomatoes, green chilies, and bell peppers adding some color and flavor to the mix.
And let’s not forget about the leafy greens! Prices for spring onion, mint, sorrel leaves, Indian radish, amaranth, and more have been holding steady. Coriander, fenugreek, shepu, spring onion, white goosefoot, safflower leaves, mint, sorrel leaves, Indian radish, amaranth, green sorrel, cowpea, and spinach are all on the market, with wholesale prices ranging from ₹500 to ₹2,500 per 100 pairs.
When it comes to fruits, prices for pomegranates, chiku, papaya, melon, and watermelon have seen an uptick, while custard apple prices have remained stable. The market recently welcomed pineapples, sweet lemon, oranges, pomegranates, papaya, lemon, watermelon, melon, chiku, guava, ber fruit, and custard apple, all adding a fruity flair to the mix.
