Hey Pune folks, listen up! The Public Health Department is sounding the alarm on the rising cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) in our city. This autoimmune disorder can cause muscle weakness, difficulty walking, and even paralysis in severe cases. So far, there have been 111 suspected cases of GBS, with one unfortunate death and 31 confirmed cases.

These cases are popping up all over Pune, with patients coming from PMC areas, newly added villages in PMC, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune Rural, and even other districts. It seems like no one is safe from this scary illness, as 77 men and 34 women have been affected, with 13 people currently on ventilator support.

But don’t worry, the Public Health Department is on it! They’ve sent a rapid response team to the affected areas, increased surveillance efforts, and even tested stool and blood samples to pinpoint the cause of this outbreak. And to keep us safe, they’re reminding us to drink boiled water, eat fully cooked food, and steer clear of any questionable chicken or mutton dishes.

So let’s all do our part to stop the spread of GBS in Pune. Stay safe, stay healthy, and keep an eye out for any symptoms – because prevention is key!
