Hey there, Pune folks! Here’s some important news for you. The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme has recently reported a spike in cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) in the Pune District. But don’t worry, health officials are on top of it and working hard to prevent further spread.

So far, there have been 130 suspected cases of GBS, with 73 confirmed diagnoses and sadly, two suspected deaths. But the good news is that no new cases were reported today, and the three additional cases are from previous days.

The majority of cases are from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area, with 25 patients, followed by newly added villages in the PMC area with 74 cases. There are also cases reported from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Pune Rural, and other districts.

Ventilator support is currently being provided to 20 patients, with the most affected age group being 20-29 years old. Health officials are working hard to keep a close eye on the situation, with over 58,000 houses surveyed across Pune District.

To prevent further spread, authorities have collected water samples for analysis and found 8 contaminated sources. Remember to drink boiled water, eat fresh and clean food, and avoid partially cooked meat to stay safe.

If you experience symptoms like weakness or paralysis in your hands or legs, difficulty walking, or prolonged diarrhea, visit a government hospital promptly. The Maharashtra Government’s Public Health Department is ready to implement necessary preventive measures, so no need to panic.

Stay safe, stay informed, and take care of yourselves, Pune!
