The government is making big moves to boost infrastructure with the approval of a 30-kilometer-long, 8-lane elevated National High-Speed Corridor from Nashik Phata to Khed near Pune. This ₹7,827 crore project is set to revolutionize travel between Pune and Nashik, benefiting industrial hubs like Chakan and Bhosari along NH-60.

Key features of the project include an 8-lane elevated flyover supported by a single pier at the Tier-1 level, along with upgrades to the existing road infrastructure to a 4/6-lane configuration. Divided into two packages, the project aims to reduce traffic congestion, especially in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.

The government’s strategic shift towards corridor-based highway infrastructure aims to enhance user convenience and create a network of 50,000 kilometers of high-speed highway corridors. This new approach is part of India’s goal to become a $30+ trillion economy by 2047.

The Pune-Nashik elevated corridor is just one part of a larger initiative approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, totaling ₹50,655 crore for eight key National High-Speed Corridor projects covering 936 kilometers. This project is expected to create approximately 4.42 crore man-days of direct and indirect employment, providing a significant economic boost.

MLA Mahesh Landge has expressed gratitude for the approval of this project, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for their support in accelerating growth and development in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. Overall, the Pune-Nashik elevated corridor promises to improve logistics, reduce travel time, and support economic growth in the region.
