Hey there, folks of Pune! If you or someone you know is looking for accommodation in government hostels, it’s time to pay attention. The Social Justice and Special Assistance Department has kicked off the admission process for government hostels in the district.

There are a total of 23 government hostels for backward class boys and girls in Pune, managed by the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance. This includes 13 boys’ hostels and 10 girls’ hostels. In Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad cities alone, there are 11 government hostels, 4 for girls and 7 for boys. And let’s not forget the 12 hostels in rural areas.

For the upcoming academic year 2024-25, the student admission process has started at the school level. The Social Welfare Department has released the government hostel admission schedule for boys and girls, and admissions are happening offline.

If you’re a school student, the first selection list for admission has already been published, and the deadline to secure your spot is July 5. For those looking to join courses after class 10th and 11th (except vocational courses), you have until July 31 to apply for offline admission, with the first selection list coming out by August 5.

And for those eyeing BA, B.Com, and B.Sc programs, the deadline to apply for offline admission is also July 31, with the selection list being published by August 5. Keep an eye out for the timetable for government hostel admissions for vocational courses, as it will be released separately.

In Pune city, boys can get application forms at Sant Dnyaneshwar Boys Government Hostel, Vishrantwadi, Pune-6, while girls can do the same at Sant Janabai Girls Government Hostel, near Commerzone IT Park, Yerwada, Pune. In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, Khadakwasla, and the taluka levels of the rest of Pune district, applications will be accepted at the respective hostels.
