The five-day Ganesh Festival in Kashmir wrapped up with a grand immersion procession, marking the end of the celebrations. Local residents bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with a heavy heart after participating in various religious ceremonies and initiatives.

It’s worth noting that this festival hadn’t been observed in the valley for over three decades, making this year’s celebrations particularly special. Thanks to the efforts of Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati Trust Celebration Chief and Trustee Punit Balan, the festival was brought back to Kashmir last year.

This year, the festival expanded to include Kupwara and Anantnag, where local residents joined in the festivities with great enthusiasm. The grand immersion processions in both locations were a sight to behold, with local musical instruments adding to the festive atmosphere.

One unique aspect of the Kashmiri Ganesh Festival is the ‘Panna Puja’, where a sweet offering is made to Lord Ganesha as a symbol of social harmony and integrity. This tradition adds a special touch to the celebrations and highlights the unity among the community.

In a statement, Punit Balan expressed his gratitude to all the Ganesh mandals and citizens in the Valley for their support in making the festival a success for the second consecutive year. He also hinted at plans to make the festival even grander in the future, promising more joy and celebration for the residents of Kashmir.
