Collaborating with the All Japan Association of Indians (AJAI) and the Edogawa India Culture Centre in Tokyo, the Amhi Punekar Organisation aims to raise awareness and appreciation of India’s rich heritage within the Japanese and Indian communities in Japan. This joint effort highlights the importance of cultural exchange and cross-cultural connections.
The significance of the 11 historically important forts from Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu cannot be understated. These forts, including Salher, Raigad, Panhala, and Gingee Fort, have all played pivotal roles in the history of the Maratha Empire and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy. By incorporating soil and water from these forts into the Bhumi Pujan ceremony, the project pays homage to the roots of Maharaj’s life and reign.
Crafted by Pune-based sculptors Vipul and Viraj Khatavkar, sons of renowned sculptor Vivek Khatavkar, the statue promises to capture the grandeur and strength associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
