Hey everyone, it’s a chaotic scene on the Mumbai Pune Expressway today! A massive traffic jam has brought vehicles to a standstill from Amrutanjan Bridge all the way to the Khalapur Toll Gate. That’s a whopping eight to nine kilometres of bumper-to-bumper traffic.

To ease the congestion towards Pune, authorities are stopping vehicles near the Khandala tunnel, giving priority to those heading in the Pune direction. Heavy vehicles bound for Mumbai are also being redirected at the Lonavala exit to help clear up the mess.

The surge in traffic is partly due to the influx of tourists, especially during the weekend. Many people are choosing to travel in their own cars for a quick getaway. With certain train routes closed, more people are hitting the roads, further adding to the congestion.

Families are taking advantage of the remaining days of summer vacation by heading to cooler destinations like Mahabaleshwar, Panchgani, Lonavala, Kolhapur, and Nashik. The route to the Konkan coast via Karad and Kolhapur is also seeing a spike in traffic, making the situation on the expressway even worse.

It looks like the traffic jam is here to stay for now, so buckle up and be prepared for a long wait if you’re on the Mumbai Pune Expressway today. Stay safe out there, folks!
