Guillain-Barré Syndrome Outbreak in Pune: 101 Cases Reported, Investigation Links to Water Contamination, Health Officials to Visit.

1. A team of health officials is heading to Pune to check out the situation. Here’s the breakdown of the cases by age group:
   • Under 9: 19 cases
   • 10-19: 15 cases
   • 20-29: 20 cases
   • 30-39: 13 cases
   • 40-49: 12 cases
   • 50-59: 13 cases
   • 60-69: 8 cases
   • 70-80: 1 case
2. The outbreak seems to be hitting areas like Sinhagad Road, Khadakwasla, and others pretty hard. Water samples are being tested to find out where the contamination is coming from.
3. Blood samples were sent for analysis but came back negative for dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. However, stool samples from GBS patients tested positive for norovirus and Campylobacter jejuni bacterial infection.
