- Fake Currency Circulation: Pune Police Arrest Youth from Gujarat
In a recent development, the Samarth Police in Pune have apprehended a young man from Gujarat for his involvement in an alleged fake currency circulation scheme. The accused, identified as Gaurav Rampratap Savita, was found in possession of a significant number of counterfeit notes amounting to a total of ₹77,200.
- Seizure of Counterfeit Notes
During a routine combing operation, the police team led by Senior Inspector Umesh Gitte discovered Gaurav staying near the Shri Untade Maruti Mandir in Rasta Peth. Upon approaching him, the accused attempted to escape but was quickly caught. A search of his belongings led to the discovery of 203 fake notes, with 142 in ₹500 denomination and 61 in ₹100 denomination.

Following the arrest, Gaurav was taken to the Samarth Police Station for further questioning. Police Constable Lakhan Shete filed a complaint regarding the incident, and Sub-Inspector Meghraj Jadhav is currently leading the investigation to trace the source of the counterfeit currency and identify other possible accomplices.
