The Swargate bus stand in Pune was filled with protestors today, as they gathered to condemn a recent rape incident at a Shivshahi bus depot. Women from various organizations and political parties, along with members of the Gulabo Gang, came together to stage a demonstration and burn an effigy in protest.

Leading the charge were the Payal Tiwari Bitiya Foundation and the Gulabo Gang, demanding strict action against the perpetrators of the crime and urging the government to take women’s safety seriously. The protesters highlighted the increasing number of crimes against women in the state and city, calling for stronger measures to ensure their security.

Gulabo Gang President Sangeeta Tiwari spoke out against the government’s inaction, stating, “Women are not safe in this state. The Swargate bus depot has been neglected for years, with illegal businesses operating in the area. We demand immediate action for women’s safety and hold the ST Corporation accountable.”

Tiwar also criticized Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam, accusing him of insensitivity and negligence towards women’s safety. The protestors are calling for swift and stringent measures to prevent future crimes and create safe public spaces for women.
