Urinary stones, those pesky little mineral deposits that can cause pain and discomfort, are more likely to form when our bodies are dehydrated. So, make sure you’re gulping down enough water to keep those stones at bay. Dr. Pawan Rahangdale from Apollo Spectra Pune says that every day, he’s seeing 2-3 patients with complaints of abdominal pain related to urinary stones.
Remember, in the summer heat, it’s crucial to stay hydrated. Keep chugging that water and make sure your urine is clear – yellow urine means you’re dehydrated, folks! Dr. Rahangdale also warns that if you’re sweating buckets, you need to drink even more water to avoid kidney stones.
If left untreated, urinary stones can lead to kidney damage or infections. So, if you experience severe back or abdominal pain, nausea, blood in urine, or a constant urge to pee, it’s time to see a doctor. Dr. Ravinder Hodarkar from Zynova Shalby Hospital says that some stones can dissolve on their own, but larger ones may require surgery.
