Hey there, folks of Pune! It’s been quite a wet few days for us here in the city, with non-stop rainfall making its presence felt in Pune City, Pimpri Chinchwad, and the surrounding rural areas. The heavy rainfall has caused water levels in various dams to rise rapidly. The Khadakwasla dam, in particular, has been releasing water into the Mutha River basin at a rate of 35,574 cusecs since early this morning. With more rain expected, further adjustments in water discharge might be necessary.

Given the forecast for heavy to very heavy rain today, the Meteorological Department is advising everyone to stay safe and be cautious. Authorities have already put restrictions in place in certain areas to ensure public safety.

The Executive Engineers of the Khadakwasla Irrigation Department have restricted access to spots like Bhide Bridge, Garware College Khillare Vasti College Campus, Shitala Devi Temple Deccan, Sangam Bridge Settlement, Jayantrao Tilak Bridge, and Holkar Bridge near Khadki. These measures are in place to prevent any potential dangers from rising water levels and ongoing rainfall, so it’s best to steer clear of these areas for now.

Stay safe, Pune! And keep those umbrellas handy.
