Pune is currently facing heavy rainfall, with the city’s water-supplying dams reaching full capacity. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the district, predicting increased rainfall intensity over the next few days.

Across Maharashtra, heavy rains have returned after a brief break, with the Ghat Matha area, including Pune, expected to receive heavy rainfall. Alerts have been issued for various regions, with Kolhapur on red alert and Pune and Satara on orange alert.

Meteorologist Manikrao Khule forecasts heavy rainfall in the state for the next three days, with moderate to heavy rains expected in different regions. The Bhatghar Dam near Pune reached 98% capacity this morning, prompting water discharge to increase the storage of the Ujani Dam.

Despite the dams being full, Pune is prepared to meet water demands. However, vigilance and preparedness are necessary as the rain is expected to continue. Water storage levels in Pune’s dams are currently at:
– Khadakwasla Dam: 72.83%
– Panshet Dam: 90.72%
– Varasgaon Dam: 92.82%
– Temghar Dam: 93.28%

The situation in Pune and across Maharashtra remains fluid as heavy rainfall persists. Stay safe and stay informed as the weather continues to evolve.
