Heavy rains wreak havoc in Pune, forcing thousands to evacuate as the Khadakwasla dam releases water. With the four dams reaching 88% capacity, concerns rise among residents living along riverbanks. Last week, 35,000 cusecs of water were released, leading to flooding in communities along the Mutha River. Around 4,500 residents were temporarily relocated. Discharge rates fluctuated as the rainfall continued, with the dams releasing water every 2 to 3 hours. Currently, the Khadakwasla project holds 88.44% of its total storage capacity, with a surplus of 3 TMC compared to last year. The four dams are now discharging water regularly as they near full capacity.
