Pune, 28th May 2024: A young hip-hop artist, Aryan Nakhara, who created a controversial rap mocking the victims of a fatal Porsche car accident in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, failed to show up for questioning by the Pune Police. The cyber cell of Pune City Police had summoned Nakhara for interrogation following the viral video, which received widespread backlash for its insensitive portrayal of the tragic incident.

Initially, there was confusion surrounding the artist’s identity, with speculation that he might be the minor accused in the accident. However, clarification from the minor’s mother revealed that Nakhara is a content creator from New Delhi. Pune Police subsequently filed a case against the 22-year-old resident of Delhi.

In a statement, Nakhara admitted to creating the video to gain fame and increase his followers, citing the incident’s notoriety as an opportunity for personal gain. Following the registration of the case, Nakhara released another video defending himself and claiming that his parodies were taken out of context. He urged the police to drop the charges, arguing that he is being unfairly targeted to divert attention from the actual tragedy.

Nakhara now faces charges under IPC sections 41(A), 509, and 294, highlighting the challenges of navigating social media’s influence and the legal consequences of content creation in the digital age. The incident has sparked curiosity regarding the police’s next steps in addressing the matter.
