Hey there, folks! It looks like Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-anticipated visit to Pune has hit a roadblock, or shall we say a rainblock? Yep, you heard it right. The visit had to be cancelled due to the severe rainfall that has been wreaking havoc in the city.
Pune experienced a deluge on Wednesday, with a whopping 131mm of rain being recorded. And get this – it’s the highest September rainfall the city has seen in a whopping 86 years. That’s some serious rain, folks!
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) isn’t taking any chances either. They’ve issued an orange alert for Thursday, predicting more heavy rain and thunderstorms. Looks like Mother Nature is in a mood, huh?
The cancellation of PM Modi’s visit has put a damper on things, quite literally. He was all set to kick off a new Metro train and inaugurate various development projects worth over Rs 22,600 crore. Talk about a missed opportunity!
The Pune Metro section from District Court to Swargate was supposed to be inaugurated, along with the foundation stone laying for the Swargate-Katraj extension. But alas, the rain had other plans.
So, as Pune deals with the aftermath of this record-breaking rainfall, let’s all keep our fingers crossed for better weather ahead. Stay safe, folks!
