Hey there, folks! It looks like we’ve got some breaking news on the GBS outbreak in Pune. According to NIV scientists, they’ve found the pesky C. jejuni bacteria in the stool samples of 27 patients being treated for GBS in Pune hospitals. Yikes!

And that’s not all – just yesterday, four new suspected cases of GBS were reported, bringing the total number of cases up to a whopping 170. The outbreak has sadly claimed the lives of 132 confirmed patients, with 5 more suspected deaths on the list.

Breaking it down by location, we’ve got 33 cases in Pune Municipal Corporation, 86 in newly added villages within PMC areas, 22 in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, 21 in Pune rural areas, and 8 in other districts. Currently, 62 patients have been discharged, 61 are in the ICU, and 20 are on ventilator support.

Health officials are sounding the alarm, reminding everyone to steer clear of contaminated water and food. It’s clear that we need to step up our game when it comes to monitoring water quality and implementing public health measures. Stay safe out there, folks!
