Valuables worth a whopping Rs 19.13 crore have been seized by the Kolhapur Police Range up to November 10. This impressive haul includes Rs 6.64 crore in cash, Rs 2.83 crore worth of illegal liquor, 113 kg of Ganja valued at Rs 22 lakh, Rs 1.87 crore worth of gutkha, as well as 9 kg of gold and 60 kg of silver with a combined value of Rs 7.50 crore. Special Inspector General of Police Sunil Fulari disclosed these findings.

The Model Code of Conduct was put into place on October 15 due to the State Assembly elections. Superintendents of Police within the Kolhapur Police Range, including the Pune Rural Police, were instructed to crack down on illegal activities such as arms, narcotics, liquor, illegal cash, and gifts. As a result, preventative measures were taken.

Given that Kolhapur, Sangli, and Solapur Rural share borders with Karnataka, 36 check posts have been established to prevent smuggling across state lines from Karnataka into Maharashtra. Special IGP Sunil Fulari personally visited several of these check posts in Kagal, Shivnakwadi, Sangli-Mhaisal, and Solapur Rural, where joint squads from various departments took action.

Special IGP Fulari reassured voters that they can cast their votes without fear, as the Police Department has implemented measures to ensure a safe and fair election environment. Measures include issuing NBWs against history-sheeters, conducting combing operations, and staging police parades in sensitive areas.

Preventative actions taken up to November 10 include 2 actions under the MPDA, 7 actions under the MCOCA, seizing 23 illegal pistols and 36 cartridges, and registering 25 cases for violations of the poll code.
