So, here’s the scoop on the recent demolition action by the Pune Municipal Corporation in Koregaon Park. The PMC Building Department brought down a whopping 50,000-sq ft of unauthorized construction on Wednesday. Yep, you heard that right – 50,000 square feet!

This illegal construction was located on plot number 405 at the Sangamwadi TP Scheme in lane number 7. It included parts of two hotels, commercial sheds, and even a cricket turf. And guess what? The civic body wasted no time in taking action once the court lifted the stay on the case. Talk about swift justice!

The establishments in question, which didn’t bother seeking permission from the PMC, included Hotel Chul Mutton, Hotel Barmanka Café Kitchen, Palmoco Dine, Drinks, Dance, Puja Fruit and Vegetables, Laziz Chicken Center, Muscle Bar Gym, and a Cricket Turf shed. These folks were playing fast and loose with the rules, setting up tin sheds without a care in the world.

But the party didn’t last long for them. The PMC deployed earth-moving machinery and a ton of manpower to bring down the illegal structures on Wednesday morning. Despite the owners putting up a fight, the civic workers carried out their mission under tight police security. Kudos to them for not backing down!

It turns out that these establishments didn’t even bother getting permission from the fire brigade or providing adequate parking space. This led to their customers parking haphazardly on the roadside, causing traffic chaos for the locals. No wonder the residents had been complaining for ages!

Thankfully, the PMC finally took action after receiving numerous complaints. And the citizens are thrilled with the outcome. They’re hoping that the civic administration will continue to crack down on such encroachments in the future.

But here’s the kicker – the Building Department squad faced some delay in getting police protection from the Koregaon Police Station in the morning. It wasn’t until Municipal Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale stepped in and contacted senior police officials that the necessary security was provided. Phew, talk about a close call!

So, there you have it – a tale of illegal construction, swift demolition, and a touch of bureaucratic delay. Just another day in the life of Pune!
