Illegal flexes have become a major issue in the Katraj area of Pune, with hoardings and flexes defacing various localities. The Local Sky Sign Department seems to be turning a blind eye to these unauthorized installations, causing frustration among citizens.

Areas like Katraj Chowk, Santoshnagar, Katraj-Kondhwa Road, Sukhsagarnagar, Gokulnagar, Bharti University, Mangdewadi, and Gujar-Nimbalkarwadi Road have been particularly affected by the influx of illegal flexes. Despite repeated complaints, there has been a significant delay in taking concrete action to address this problem.

One of the key issues is the lack of proper licensing for these flexes, with many being installed without the necessary permits. This oversight by the Local Sky Sign Department has not only defaced the area but has also caused traffic obstructions in many places.

Officials from the department have provided vague explanations for the delay in addressing the issue, citing manpower shortages as a reason for the lack of action. However, questions are being raised about why no penal action has been taken against those responsible for installing illegal flexes, and why crimes are not being registered in such cases.

Assistant Commissioner Surekha Bhange has assured that strict actions will be taken against those installing illegal flexes, with plans to remove them from both minor and main roads. She has also promised to take penal action against offenders to address the growing problem in the area.

Overall, the issue of illegal flexes in Katraj has become a pressing concern for residents, who are calling for immediate action to address this defacement of their localities.
