Hey Pune folks, if you’ve been noticing the prices of oranges and lemons going up lately, you’re not alone! With temperatures on the rise, the demand for juicy and citrus fruits has surged, leading to an increase in prices at Pune’s wholesale market. But don’t worry, most vegetables and leafy greens are holding steady in terms of pricing.

Over the weekend, around 90 trucks loaded with fruits and veggies made their way to the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard from various parts of Maharashtra and beyond. We’re talking about green chilies from Karnataka, cabbage from Gujarat, ghevda and pavta from Karnataka, and even some groundnuts and drumsticks from Andhra Pradesh. And that’s not all – there were also carrots from Rajasthan, peas from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and garlic from Madhya Pradesh making their way to the market.

From the Satara division, the market saw a huge influx of ginger, okra, tomatoes, green chilies, cucumbers, cabbage, cauliflower, red pumpkin, onions, and potatoes from various regions. It’s like a veggie paradise out there!

But when it comes to fruits, oranges and lemons are taking the spotlight with prices going up due to the summer demand. Even though the supply has increased, prices have still seen a 5-10% hike. The fruit market also saw a variety of other fruits like pineapples, citrus fruits, pomegranates, papayas, guavas, apples, and grapes making their way in.

On the bright side, leafy vegetable prices are holding steady with coriander, fenugreek, shepu, onion greens, and other greens maintaining their prices per 100 bunches. So, if you’re in the mood for some fresh greens, you’re in luck!

With temperatures rising, it looks like the demand for refreshing fruits and veggies is only going to increase in the coming weeks. So, keep an eye out for any changes in market prices and get ready to stock up on your favorite summer produce!
