The Union Ministry of Railways has given the green light for the famous Chennai Express and Gadag Express to make experimental stops at Lonavala. This is great news for residents of Western Maharashtra who frequently travel to South India, especially Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The Chennai Express, which usually runs from Dadar Central to Chennai Central, will now stop at Lonavala. This train covers a distance of about 1,284 kilometres and makes stops at key stations like Kalyan Junction, Pune Junction, Solapur, and more. The return service of this train will also include a stop at Lonavala, making it more convenient for passengers.
Similarly, the Gadag Express, which travels from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai to Gadag Junction in Karnataka, will also have an experimental stop at Lonavala. This will benefit travellers from Western Maharashtra heading towards Karnataka.
With Lonavala Station now added to the route, residents of Maval Taluka will have easier access to these important trains. The timings for both the Chennai Express and Gadag Express have been updated to accommodate the new stop at Lonavala, making it more convenient for passengers.
