Hey there, folks! Big news from Wagholi – an injured leopard was spotted near the Pune-Nagar highway and it’s all hands on deck for the Pune Forest Department and RESQ Charitable Trust. The leopard was seen limping near Decathlon, Wagholi, and it was clear that it needed help.

The RESQ team sprang into action after receiving CCTV footage of the leopard in distress. They quickly set up camera traps to monitor its movements and confirmed that the leopard was indeed injured and in need of assistance.

With the danger of human interaction and potential accidents looming, a second RESQ team joined the effort and set up cage traps to safely capture the leopard. After hours of monitoring, the leopard was successfully captured and transported to the Transit Treatment Centre in Bavdhan for medical attention.

RFO Suresh Varak stressed the importance of acting swiftly in such situations, highlighting the increased risk of accidents when large carnivores are injured near populated areas. Tuhin Satarkar, Director of Wildlife Management at RESQ, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the need to ensure the safety of both the leopard and the community.

The Maharashtra Forest Department and RESQ Charitable Trust are dedicated to protecting wildlife and fostering harmony between humans and animals in urban settings. Stay tuned for updates on the leopard’s health and rehabilitation – we’ll keep you posted!
