Yerawada Central Jail in Pune witnessed a shocking incident on 14th June when an inmate was brutally attacked by three fellow inmates. The accused, identified as Shrikant Rajendra Kale, Sanjay Harish Bhosale, and Aakash Mangesh Sasawade, allegedly targeted Yogesh Jagdish Sonawane over suspicions of him being an informant for a rival group.
The attack took place in Barrack No. 1 of the CJ department, where Sonawane was confronted by the assailants and physically assaulted. The violence was only halted after intervention by jail guards. A case has been filed against the three attackers, and investigations are ongoing under the supervision of Assistant Police Inspector Ahire from Yerawada Police Station.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers and tensions that can exist within the confines of a prison environment. The safety and security of inmates must always be a top priority to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
