PMPML passengers in Pune are growing increasingly frustrated as the long-awaited integration of the ‘One Pune’ card with PMPML services remains unfulfilled. Despite being designed to allow seamless travel across Pune Metro and PMPML buses, the card currently only works for Metro travel.
The ‘One Pune’ card, developed under the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) scheme, was introduced as part of the central government’s ‘One Nation, One Card’ initiative in 2019. However, its functionality is limited to Pune Metro services at present, leaving passengers who rely on PMPML buses and rickshaws unable to use the card.
Metro officials claim that their system is prepared for integration, but PMPML has not completed the necessary processes. On the other hand, PMPML officials argue that Metro ticketing is accessible via the PMPML app, highlighting a communication gap between the two entities.
While the NCMC card is already operational in various cities across India for public bus services, Pune’s implementation lags behind. Previous efforts to link the ‘One Pune’ card with PMPML’s ticketing system have stalled, raising questions about the timeline for a fully integrated transport system in Pune.
Passengers are expressing frustration over the lack of progress in integrating the card with all public transport services. They are eagerly awaiting updates on the timeline for full integration. As the city looks towards a more connected public transport system, both Pune Metro and PMPML are under pressure to address these integration challenges and deliver on the promise of the ‘One Pune’ card.
