In a recent development, the Pune Rural Police’s Local Crime Branch (LCB) successfully nabbed an interstate burglary accused, recovering stolen valuables worth ₹16.58 lakh. The accused, identified as Lakhan Ashok Kulkarni alias Sachin Raju Mane, has a long history of committing housebreaking crimes across Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat.

The incident took place on January 13, 2025, when four houses in Shripatinagar, Bhor, were targeted by the burglar. Following the theft of valuables worth ₹26.35 lakh, including gold, silver, and cash, a complaint was lodged by a retired resident, Madhav Damodhar Purohit. The case was taken up seriously by Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Through a detailed investigation, the police team, headed by Local Crime Branch Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar, was able to identify the suspect through CCTV footage and informants. Lakhan Ashok Kulkarni was apprehended on January 24 near Sasewadi on the Pune-Satara road, with recovered items including gold ornaments, silver utensils, cash, and a Hyundai Elantra car used in the burglary.

Kulkarni, also known as Sachin Raju Mane, has a criminal record and has previously served time in prison for similar offenses. The successful operation was supervised by Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional SP Ganesh Biradar, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Bhor) Tanaji Barde, along with the diligent efforts of the police team members.

This arrest serves as a reminder of the dedicated efforts of law enforcement agencies in cracking down on criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of the community.
