Hey there, folks! Here’s the latest scoop in Pune – it seems that John Deere, the global tractor manufacturing giant, has found itself in hot water once again. A recent inquiry by a senior forest official has confirmed that illegal tree cutting took place on their Wagholi premises.
This isn’t the first time John Deere has come under fire for their tree-related activities. Back in September 2024, they were issued a show-cause notice for violating tree translocation norms after cutting down 12 neem trees and two fig trees in Sanaswadi. The forest department had initially given them permission to cut and translocate trees in June 2023, but discrepancies were later discovered.
Now, the forest department is considering further action against the company based on the findings of the second inquiry. Deputy Conservator of Forest, Junnar Division, Amol Satpute, has stated that they will be taking the company’s explanation into account before deciding on the appropriate steps to take.
It looks like John Deere might have some explaining to do as they navigate this tree-cutting controversy. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
