Tick tock, Pune property owners! The clock is ticking as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is offering a limited-time discount on property tax payments. With just three days left until May 31st, residents in Pune have a chance to save on their tax bills for the upcoming financial year of 2024-25.
Madhav Jagtap, the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the Taxation and Tax Collection Department at PMC, is urging residents to make their property tax payments before the deadline to take advantage of the discount. Property tax slips have already been sent out to all 14.22 lakh property holders in PMC’s jurisdiction through the Indian Department of Post. If you haven’t received yours yet, make sure to check the PMC website ASAP.
PMC has already collected an impressive Rs 836.08 crores in property tax within just two months of the fiscal year starting. A good chunk of this revenue, Rs 226.58 crores, has come in the form of cheque payments, with Rs 84.94 crores paid in cash. The majority of payments, Rs 521.54 crores, have been made through online and digital payment methods, showing a clear shift towards digital transactions.
To make it easier for residents to pay their taxes and take advantage of the discount offer, PMC has extended the hours of the Citizens Facilitation Centres (CFCs) to 9 AM to 9 PM, including weekends. The Taxation and Tax Collection Department is encouraging residents to use online payment methods to reduce crowds at the CFCs and make the payment process smoother.
