Hey there, Pune! Here’s the latest scoop on the Porsche Taycan crash case that has been making headlines. The delay in appointing two presiding members to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) has put a halt to the proceedings regarding whether the 17-year-old driver should be tried as an adult.

The incident, which resulted in the tragic death of two IT engineers in Kalyaninagar last year, has yet to see closure as the JJB panel remains incomplete. The principal magistrate had requested a counselor’s report to determine the teenager’s fate, but without the required board members, the case has hit a roadblock.

Due to a lack of quorum, the JJB had to postpone the hearing to April 26, much to the frustration of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ganesh Ingale, who is overseeing the investigation. The state government’s decision to terminate two JJB members last year has only added to the backlog of cases awaiting resolution.

In an effort to address the situation, the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department has proposed assigning additional charge to JJB members from neighboring districts. This temporary solution aims to expedite the pending cases in Pune while awaiting the appointment of new members.

On the legal front, the defence team representing the teenager is invoking provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) to argue against any further progress until the JJB is fully constituted. As the victims’ families anxiously await justice, the case remains in limbo, with crucial decisions hanging in the balance.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as authorities work towards resolving the case and delivering justice to those affected.
