Hey folks, it’s time to ditch those umbrellas and pull out those sunglasses because the ‘October heat’ has officially arrived in Maharashtra! After bidding farewell to the monsoon season, the state is now facing some serious heatwaves.
Vidarbha kicked things off with a scorching temperature of 35°C, while Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra weren’t far behind with temperatures ranging from 33°C to 34°C. Coastal areas also felt the heat, with Alibaug hitting a whopping 38.9°C on Thursday.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Alibaug stole the show with the highest temperature recorded at 38.9°C, while other areas like Santacruz, Colaba, Harne, and Dahanu averaged around 33°C. In Madhya Maharashtra, Jalgaon sizzled at 34.2°C, while Parbhani led the charge in Marathwada with 34.4°C.
Vidarbha didn’t hold back either, with temperatures exceeding 35°C in many districts. From Akola to Nagpur, the region is feeling the heat with an average of 34°C across the board.
While the clear skies have been a welcome change from the rainy days, the IMD is predicting a return of light rain between 6th and 10th October. This could bring some relief by cooling things down a bit, but be warned – the October heat is expected to intensify after the 15th.
For the next four days, isolated areas across the state can expect some light rainfall. North Maharashtra and East Marathwada are in for a rainy Friday, followed by more showers and thunderstorms over the weekend and into Monday.
So stay cool, stay hydrated, and keep those raincoats handy because the weather in Maharashtra is anything but predictable!
