Alright folks, buckle up because Ganeshotsav is about to kick off in Pune, and you know what that means – time to say goodbye to your favorite alcoholic beverages for a few days. The Maharashtra State Excise Department in Pune has decided to impose a liquor ban in the district on specific days to ensure a smooth celebration of the festival.

Starting from 7th September, which marks the beginning of Ganeshotsav with Ganesh Chaturthi, there will be a complete alcohol ban in Pune District. And hold on to your glasses because on 17th September, Anant Chaturdashi, another alcohol ban will be in effect throughout the district. Don’t even think about sneaking a sip on 18th September in the PMC area because there will be a ban due to the Visarjan processions.

But wait, there’s more. On the 11th and 13th of September, areas where Visarjan takes place will also experience a complete liquor ban. And from 7th September to 18th September, until the Visarjan processions come to an end, a complete liquor ban will be enforced in certain police station jurisdictions under the Pune City Police Commissionerate.

Pune District Collector Dr Suhas Diwase is not taking any chances and has issued orders to various officials to ensure compliance with the alcohol ban. These officials have the authority to close premises under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949 if there is a risk of riot or unlawful assembly. So folks, it looks like it’s going to be a dry and sober Ganeshotsav in Pune this year. Cheers to that!
