Exciting news for all commuters traveling between Mumbai and Pune! The Missing Link project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is well underway, with a promise to improve connectivity and reduce travel time for motorists. This infrastructure upgrade is set to streamline the route between Khalapur and the Khopoli Interchange, as well as from Khopoli Exit to Kusgaon near Sinhgad Institute. The current 19-kilometer stretch will be shortened to just 13.3 kilometers, resulting in significant time savings for travelers.
During an inspection of the project site, Maharashtra’s Public Works Minister Meghna Sakore-Bordikar emphasized the importance of completing the project by August. She highlighted the need for high-quality construction to ensure a smooth and safe journey for commuters. Once finished, the realignment is expected to bring several benefits for daily travelers, including a reduction of 20-25 minutes in travel time, lower fuel consumption leading to cost savings, decreased vehicular emissions for better air quality, easing of congestion on the existing ghat section, and enhanced road safety with fewer accident-prone spots.
The Borghat section, known for heavy traffic and bottlenecks, will particularly benefit from the new route. The updated expressway design will also help minimize disruptions during the monsoon season, making travel between Mumbai and Pune more reliable year-round. With the project nearing completion, commuters can look forward to a faster and more efficient journey in the near future. Exciting times ahead for all travelers on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway!
