The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is making strides in its metro expansion plans with the proposal for a new underground metro station at Balajinagar. This station is part of the extended metro route connecting Katraj to Swargate, which recently received approval from the central government.
The Katraj-to-Swargate metro line will cover a distance of 5.40 km and initially included three stations. With the addition of Balajinagar station, the project’s cost has increased to ₹2,954 crore. While PMC is set to contribute 15% of the project’s cost, MahaMetro has agreed to fully fund the construction of the Balajinagar station.
The Standing Committee is currently reviewing the proposal for the Balajinagar station. If approved, this addition will improve connectivity along the extended metro route, benefiting commuters in the area. With the financial aspect settled, the project is on track to enhance public transportation in Pune.
