In a bid to boost public safety and emergency response, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has approved ₹150 crore for the construction of ten new fire stations in the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) area. This move comes in light of the increasing urbanization and the integration of 814 villages into the PMRDA project.

Here are the locations of the new fire stations:

– Haveli Taluka: Autade, Handewadi, Manjari, and Wadachiwadi
– Maval Taluka: Kanhe and Patan
– Daund Taluka: Kedgaon
– Khed Taluka: Yewalewadi
– Purandar Taluka: Dive
– Shirur Taluka: Shikrapur

Dr. Yogesh Mhase, the PMRDA commissioner, stressed the significance of this initiative, stating that the new fire stations will enhance the region’s ability to respond to fires and emergencies effectively. He assured that the necessary resources and personnel will be provided to support these operations.

Civil rights activist Maruti Bhapkar lauded the decision, highlighting the challenges faced by the PMRDA in dealing with emergency situations. He mentioned that currently, the PMRDA has to rely on fire tenders from PMC and PCMC, which can be a cumbersome process. The new fire stations will ensure swift assistance to affected areas, bringing relief to both residents and the PMRDA.

Key points to consider:

– Funding: ₹150 crore earmarked for construction.
– Urbanization: Response to the inclusion of villages in the PMRDA.
– Emergency Response: New stations aim to bolster rapid response capabilities.
– Locations: Stations strategically placed in various talukas for comprehensive coverage.

This initiative is a significant stride toward enhancing safety infrastructure in the PMRDA area, promising quicker emergency responses and improved resource allocation for fire incidents.
