Hey there, folks! Big news coming out of Pune today – the Maharashtra government has thrown a curveball at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) by ordering them to hand over all construction-related documents for the villages of Phursungi and Uruli Devachi. These villages have recently been removed from the PMC’s jurisdiction and made into municipal councils, leaving the future of Town Planning (TP) schemes in limbo.

The decision to exclude Phursungi and Uruli Devachi from the PMC has put a halt on construction permits for projects in these areas. PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale wasted no time in seeking clarification from the Urban Development Department about the construction department’s role in these villages. In response, the department made it clear that the responsibility now lies with the municipal councils, effectively cutting off the PMC’s authority in these matters.

This move has left many construction permits hanging in the balance, as the PMC had plans to implement TP schemes across 371 hectares in these villages. The sudden exclusion has thrown a wrench into the works, leaving the fate of these schemes – and an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore – up in the air.

It’s definitely a challenging time for the PMC and the residents of Phursungi and Uruli Devachi. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
