Hey Pune peeps, have you heard the latest news? The Maharashtra government is all set to boost women-led startups with the introduction of the ‘Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar Mahila Startup Yojana’. This scheme is specifically aimed at supporting and encouraging women entrepreneurs, especially those who are still in school or college and looking to kickstart their own businesses through incubation centres.

The main goal of this initiative is to provide financial assistance to women-led startups and to nurture an entrepreneurial spirit among women all across the state. By focusing on local needs and utilizing local resources, these startups will not only create job opportunities for other women but also contribute to the overall development of self-reliance among women in both urban and rural areas.

The government is determined to make Maharashtra the state with the highest number of women-led startups in India with this scheme. They also aim to reduce unemployment by generating employment through these startups. In fact, 25 percent of the scheme’s total provision is reserved for women from backward and economically disadvantaged classes, which is a great step towards creating a more inclusive startup ecosystem.

Financial assistance ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 25 lakh will be provided to eligible early-stage startups based on their turnover. To be eligible, the startup must be Maharashtra-registered, women-led, and recognized by the Department of Industry and Internal Trade Promotion, Government of India. The startup should also have at least 51 percent ownership by women founders or co-founders and have been operational for at least one year with an annual turnover between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 10 crore.

The application process is simple – interested applicants can apply online for free at www.msins.in. Required documents include company proposal, registration certificates, and approval certificate from the Department of Industry and Internal Trade Promotion. Priority will be given to innovative and effective startups, especially those that are creating job opportunities.
