Looks like the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had a tough time in the recent Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, with none of their candidates managing to secure a win. The party had high hopes for success in Western Maharashtra, especially in cities like Pune and Mumbai. However, things didn’t go as planned.
Party president Raj Thackeray is not taking this defeat lightly. He has scheduled meetings with the defeated candidates and local office bearers from Pune and Western Maharashtra to discuss the party’s future. The meetings are part of a series of discussions that have already taken place in Mumbai and Thane.
MNS had aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections, but this alliance didn’t seem to pay off in the state elections. The party fielded candidates in key Pune constituencies like Kothrud, Khadakwasla, and Kasba Peth, as well as in Hadapsar against the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Despite strong voter support in some areas, all MNS candidates were ultimately defeated.
With local body elections on the horizon in Maharashtra, Raj Thackeray is keen to understand why the party faced such a setback. The upcoming meetings will focus on analyzing the reasons behind the defeat and charting a new course for the MNS in the future.
Stay tuned for more updates as Raj Thackeray gears up for his visit to Pune this Wednesday and Thursday.
