Hey Pune peeps, here’s the latest scoop on stamp papers in the city! State revenue officials have confirmed that Rs 100 and Rs 200 stamp papers will still be available despite recent changes in stamp duty for certain documents. So no need to worry about accessibility issues!

Deputy Secretary for Stamps and Registration, S.S. Bajaj, explained that the revision only impacts 11 out of the 64 document types that previously required Rs 100 or Rs 200 stamp duties. The new Rs 500 stamp duty applies to specific documents like letters of licence, appraisals, divorce papers, and lease surrender documents. But don’t fret, you can still use the Rs 100 and Rs 200 stamp papers for notary services and affidavit submissions.

The current stamp duty rates have been in place since 2004, so it was about time for an update. The changes are aimed at streamlining documentation and improving accuracy, with the state expecting to generate an additional Rs 1,000 crore annually.

However, not everyone is thrilled about the increase. Sachin Shingavi, President of the Association of Real Estate Agents Pune, raised concerns about the burden on the public, especially for commonly used documents. His organization submitted a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar urging the state to reconsider using stamp duty hikes as a revenue-raising tactic for everyday documents.

So, for now, you can rest easy knowing that Rs 100 and Rs 200 stamp papers are here to stay for your everyday needs. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
