Hey there, Pune peeps! Big news coming your way – the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections are just around the corner on 20th November. And guess what? The Education Department of the Government of Maharashtra is getting in on the action too.
They’ve asked the Education Commissioner to give school principals the lowdown on whether to shut down schools on 18th, 19th, and 20th November. Why, you ask? Well, it seems like teachers are going to be knee-deep in election duties, from casting their votes to manning polling stations in schools.
With all this election buzz, it’s no wonder that the Education Commissionerate suggested giving schools a little breather on those days. Tushar Mahajan, the Deputy Secretary of the School Education Department, even sent out a circular to drive the point home. The message? If teachers are tied up with election stuff and classes can’t go on as usual, it’s probably best to close up shop for a bit.
Mahendra Ganpule, a former headmaster, chimed in too. He made a good point – with teachers pulled in different directions for election work and schools doubling as polling stations, it’s going to be chaos trying to keep things running smoothly. So, he’s all for giving schools a break and letting everyone catch their breath.
But hey, he did mention that each school and area should figure out what works best for them. Closing all schools at once might not be the perfect solution. So, let’s see how it all pans out in the lead-up to the big election day. Stay tuned, Pune!
