Hey Pune folks, get ready for some exciting news coming your way! The Ministry of School Education in Maharashtra has just announced some new activities to be implemented in schools across the state starting from Republic Day on 26th January. The focus is on instilling pride in students about our country’s culture, history, and future.
So, what can you expect on Republic Day in schools now? Well, get ready for a morning procession, speech competitions, dance performances, and games after the flag hoisting ceremony. Students in both government and private schools will sing the national anthem, the state anthem (Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha), recite the Constitution’s preamble, and sing patriotic songs.
But that’s not all – there will also be patriotic poem recitations, dance and painting competitions, and essay contests on themes like freedom fighters, patriotism, and democracy. And let’s not forget about the exhibition of students’ handiwork, paintings, and other creations.
The Ministry is really emphasizing the importance of age-appropriate activities and getting everyone involved – from freedom fighters to public representatives to school management committees and more. Education officers will be ensuring that everything goes smoothly.
But of course, not everyone is on board with these new activities. Some experts are concerned that there might be too many activities already happening in schools, which could take away from valuable teaching and learning time. Dr. Vasant Kalpande suggests having a more flexible schedule throughout the year, while Vijay Kombe from the Maharashtra State Primary Teachers’ Committee thinks there should be a limit on co-curricular activities.
What do you think about these new changes in schools? Are you excited for Republic Day celebrations, or do you have concerns about the impact on students’ education? Let us know in the comments!
