Hey Pune folks, here’s some news for you! The Maharashtra Transport Commissioner’s office has decided to waive the home fitment fee for installing High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) if 25 or more vehicles are fitted at a single location. This move is aimed at making the process smoother and ensuring that the plates are installed in a timely manner.

But wait, there’s more! The circular also provides guidelines for installing HSRP on vehicles registered before April 1, 2019. However, it seems like the progress has been a bit slow in getting older vehicles fitted with HSRP.

To speed things up, Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) and Assistant RTOs have been instructed to assess the number of fitting centers in their areas and set up new centers if needed. Forms for establishing these new centers have been provided along with the circular. Motor Vehicle Inspectors will then inspect these centers and give them the green light to start operating.

On top of that, there have been complaints about vehicles registered after April 1, 2019 being delivered without HSRP. RTOs have been told to look into vehicle dealers and take action if they find that vehicles were distributed without the required plates.

To encourage more vehicle owners to get HSRP installed, RTOs will be meeting with various associations like bus, auto-rickshaw, taxi, and truck associations. If 25 or more vehicle owners in an area apply for HSRP, the plates will be installed at a central location or within housing societies at no extra cost.

And because things have been moving slowly, the deadline for installing HSRP on old vehicles has been extended to June 30. So make sure to get those plates on your vehicles before the new deadline rolls around!
