MahaRERA, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority, is taking steps to simplify the registration process for housing projects in Maharashtra. By hosting open houses outside of its Mumbai headquarters, MahaRERA aims to provide direct assistance to developers in regions like Nagpur and Pune.

The first open house session is scheduled for January 22 in Nagpur, where developers can get in-person guidance on completing registration forms and providing all necessary details. MahaRERA Chairman Manoj Saunik highlighted the importance of project registration under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, emphasizing that no housing project can be advertised without RERA registration.

The open houses, which were previously only held in Mumbai, will now be conducted monthly in Nagpur and Pune. This expansion aims to provide comprehensive support to developers in these regions, with experts from financial, legal, and technical departments available to address specific queries and resolve registration issues.

Developers often face challenges in understanding compliance requirements and meeting legal, financial, and technical prerequisites for project registration. To address these issues, MahaRERA has reduced the minimum project requirement for forming Self-Regulatory Organizations (SROs) outside the Mumbai Metropolitan Region from 500 to 200 projects.

With the introduction of open houses in Nagpur and Pune and the revised SRO guidelines, MahaRERA is empowering local associations to provide better support for developers and streamline the registration process statewide. This proactive approach is expected to enhance transparency, collaboration, and growth in Maharashtra’s real estate sector.
