If you’ve ever had grievances against builders in Pune, you might be pleased to know that the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) is taking action to ensure customers are compensated for their troubles. In fact, MahaRERA has issued a whopping 1,163 warrants to recover a total of Rs 705 crore in 442 projects.

So far, Rs 200 crore has been successfully recovered from 283 warrants in 139 projects. The highest amount recovered is Rs 76 crore from the Mumbai suburbs division, followed by Rs 46 crore from Mumbai city and Rs 39 crore from the Pune division. However, there is still Rs 505 crore in compensation that needs to be collected.

In Pune alone, there is Rs 150.72 crore in compensation still to be recovered from 201 complaints against 89 projects. MahaRERA issues directives to builders based on complaints, and if developers fail to comply, the District Collectorate steps in to recover the money.

To speed up the recovery process, MahaRERA has appointed a retired senior officer from the Revenue Department to follow up on cases with District Collectors, Deputy Collectors, and Tehsildars. Additionally, retired Tehsildars will be appointed on an experimental basis to increase efficiency in high-volume divisions like Mumbai suburbs and Pune.

Overall, MahaRERA is working diligently to ensure that customers are compensated for any grievances they may have against builders in Pune and beyond.
