The Mahavikas Aghadi has once again accused the BJP of distributing cash on the eve of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, mirroring similar allegations made during the Lok Sabha elections. The incident reportedly took place in the Parvati Constituency under the jurisdiction of the Bibwewadi Police Station. NCP-SP candidate Ashwini Kadam and her supporters staged a sit-in protest in front of the police station, demanding the arrest of those allegedly involved in distributing money to voters.
Ashwini Kadam is contesting against BJP’s Madhuri Misal in the Parvati constituency, with the Mahavikas Aghadi releasing a video showing individuals connected to the BJP distributing money. This is not the first time such allegations have been made, as sitting MLA Ravindra Dhangekar had previously accused the BJP of similar practices during the Lok Sabha elections. Key leaders of the Mahavikas Aghadi have submitted a written request to the Pune City Commissioner of Police, calling for action to be taken against the accused individuals.
In a separate incident on the eve of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress workers, led by MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, gathered at the Sahakar Nagar Police Station to report alleged money distribution by BJP members. Despite being denied the opportunity to file a formal complaint, the group staged a protest that resulted in a case being filed against them for violating various laws. The ongoing allegations of money distribution and recent attacks on political figures in Pune have heightened tensions ahead of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections.
